You don't have to install the inter bulb, you can use just the glowing top if you want.
Inside is a labeled switch that you can use to adjust the intensity of the light. The top produces a warm glow, while the inner light produces more of a pure white glow. So both together create a dynamic ambience.
It has a replaceable rechargeable battery to store the solar power. And this really holds a charge! I only had it out of the box for a short time charging, and it was able to light its LEDs through the entire night and it was still going into the next day (It was a cloudy day so the lights were still on).

These solar lights are attractive and light my sidewalk well. They usually last from dark to dawn, and were reasonably priced.
And many times I am amazed that even though it has rained most of the day, they still light up at night.
